Our standards for Notability are the same as for Wikipedia - so generally it's easy that if they have a Wikipedia article about them, then they qualify as a Notable. If they don't have a Wikipedia article currently, then you would need to determine if they meet the standards to have a Wikipedia article (see Wikipedia for their standards or our project page will help as well), and they don't have to have an article already but meet the standards.
So from what you mention above, both currently have Wikipedia articles, so they would both qualify as Notables. If possible, we try to keep Notable profiles with Open privacy, unless they're alive, in which case we go to the most open privacy possible (typically Yellow). If it's open privacy and there are no issues concerning controversial family (i.e., parents likely to be disputed, etc.) then we add the Notables sticker to the profile and that's about all that needs to be done:

If they're yellow privacy or there's concerns about controversy, we prefer to PPP the profile, add the Notables project, and add the project to the profile as manager. Don't remove yourself (unless you just want to do so) but add Notables as co-manager. This helps as non-open profiles can be problematic if you no longer wish to manage them and may no longer be responding to WikiTree emails.
