Is Peregrine Smith the son of John Smith?

According to the biographical information presented on the page, John had no known children and the Pocahontas story was legendary.   This is coming into conflict with the family lore recorded on the Peregrine Smith page where the connection is floated as a real possibility.   As we now have a link between John and Peregrine installed, it would be useful if a) the connection could be proven or disproven definitively; and b) some agreement reached between the moderators of the two pages in question as to what the facts are.  I'd love to have John Smith and Pocahontas as 11X great grandparents, but I'd rather have a true family tree above all else.

Capt John Smith is the Holy Grail of Smith genealogy.  Everyone wants to claim a connection to him, including me.  Unfortunately, we have not been able to yDNA test any known lines to Capt. John or his father or brother.  Until there is genetic/scientific proof, there will only be some good stories, I am afraid.  Traditional documentation is lacking.

That's what I gathered from the evidence I saw.  Got a maternal DNA test on order.   All the celebrities in the family tree are--or pretend to be--on my mom's side of the family.
