long service medals

I have managed to get David Hunter's details from my partner now that he managed to find David's long service medal from world war one

on it is:

D Hunter

sargent royal engineer

sjtre ocqm

service number was 186227

Despite having all this information on him i still can not find any records for him
in The Tree House by Steph Meredith G2G6 Mach 8 (88.5k points)

I was at the Royal Scots museum at Edinburgh castle and noticed they had forms for carrying out research for a modest donation.

It might be worth looking to see whether the Royal Engineers do the same.

Unfortunately about 60% of WW1 service records were destroyed by fire due to bombing in WW2.
