Hi Michael,

While searching my family of Hodges in Virginia, I came across this info for you. When searching for an ancestor on the census records, I have found, play with dates, names and places close to what you are looking for but not exact. Also it seems that the Hodges and Hodge lines were famous for nicknaming their children. For example I found a Dillard Hodges age 3 and a Colonel Hodges age 2, listed on the census. Doctor Hodges was originally listed as Dillard, later it changed to Doctor Hodges (still very young) and later with his own family, he is listed as a farmer, so is the Colonel. Nicknames played a key role in this line of names and still does today. Below is what I found for you changing names and dates a little. Good luck, due to nicknames it's a hard line to follow.

I copied and pasted this so I hope it comes thru if not then just email me and I will send you the link. It is documented on Familysearch.org.

But that is ALL I know - I don't know where he was born, his parents, when he became a doctor, his wife's maiden name, where and when they lived in Knoxville TN and where and when they moved to Greene County TN - basically I got everything I do know about them from the graveyard.  It is a dead end for me at the moment.
