Is William Royce the father of Robert?

Robert Royce of Connecticut -- Royce-35 -- has been the focus of a lot of confusion.  He has been confused with a contemporary, Robert Royce of Boston -- Royce-709.  And he has been given parents and a wife on multiple sites whose evidence disappears on close inspection.

Some genealogists have identified a William Royce in Lincolnshire as a possible father.  Church records document William and his children, who match the family of Robert Royce of Connecticut.  What is missing to prove the relationship is some evidence that Robert the son of William is the same person as Robert of Connecticut.

All the information I've been able to find on William has been posted on William's new profile, which contains 3 biographical sections -- one for William, one for Robert as documented on the Lincolnshire site, and one for Robert of Connecticut.

This post is a query to see if others on G2G who look at Royce-710 and Royce-35 think there is now enough evidence to make Royce-35 the son of Royce-710.  If the answer is yes, then the descendents of Royce-35 have another generation going backwards.  If the answer is no, nothing further needs to be done -- Royce-710 is a legitimate documented person in his own right, and the link doesn't need to be made.

Since a number of people have already weighed in over time to keep bad connections from being made, a connection between 710 and 35 should only happen if it seems to be substantially persuasive!

I was hoping we'd get another set of eyes on this.

My opinion. I just don't see it. We have a baptism in a good time frame in an acceptable place. I don't see anything else there to support the William as parent.

The issue has been waiting to be resolved for a couple of hundred years....it's not like we're obligated to figure it out in the next 48 hours!  With a legitimate separate profile now for William, we can keep adding documentation to William and his family, and let the chips fall where they may.  So to speak.
