I found John W. Helton listed married with Martha Jane Bartley on Ancestry.com. His parents are listed as Arthur Helton 1797-1849. His mother is listed as Susanna (Susan Ann) Wilson 1790-1849. Malinda Helton is listed as his sister and this data is provided by the author:
The father of Malinda Hylton May, wife of Gideon May, was Arthur Hylton. Arthur Hylton was mentioned in several court records in Russell County, VA. Malinda's mother is unknown, but very likely to be Susannah Lawson. Knox County, KY marriage records lists Susannah Lawson and Arthur Helton married in 1810. She had at least two brothers that I am aware of: Patton Hylton and Hiram Hylton (listed on the 1890 Civil War Veteran Census residing in Ironton, OH.)
