I hope everyone had a great week. I spent much of my time adding members to the ONS project & researching some lines for project members.

Spring is in the air & everything is covered in pollen in my neck of the woods. Sneezing is a way of life for the next 2 months at my house.

Anything new with you?

So I was sat here thinking, the smell of my breakfast is lingering this morning.

Then I went into the kitchen, and my breakfast was still cooking.  I'd forgotten to eat it, and I'd forgotten I hadn't eaten it.
by Living Horace G2G6 Pilot (641k points)

I have these here and there just in case.  :)

I think I bought one once, but I've forgotten where I put it.
Oh, my, RJ!! Extra crispy, was it??
If you use the microwave food just gets cold when you forget it. Electric tea kettles are good too, they automatically shut off when hot so you don't end up with it melting after the water runs out.
...we use induction.  It also turns-off when the food goes dry (food is likely ruined but at least the house isn't on fire.)  :D

It's been rather cool for the last week or so here in Tempe.  Not actually cold, but considering we'd had temperatures in the 90s a while back, it feels cool, especially in the evenings.

I tried something new this morning.  Family TreeMaker has an; Outline Ancestor Report you can print out (or e-mail I suppose.)  Anyway I did one for a late sister-in-law.  I'd forgotten how much work I'd done on her line when I was starting out in genealogy.  This was mostly because I'd run into some online trees, printed them out, and added them as needed.  Some of them claim to have lines back to the 1300s, but we'll see which ones are able to hold up to the test of sourcing.  With luck most of the lines will link to existing lines on WikiTree and I won't have to add them.  Her LNAB was Simmons and most of the lines start in Knox, Ohio, USA and I see lines purporting to be royals, some Standishes and other Mayflower names in MA, etc. Don't know how many I'll ever get entered, but should be interesting when I'm ready for a break from whatever else I'm doing.

ALERT ... April Fool's Day tomorrow ... be careful out there!! lol

Speaking of April Fools ... I was going to do something on G2G but I've thought better of it  Anyway, the ploy was going to be posting a 'Brick Wall' request for help.  My Jewett's came from Bradford, England and I was going to say that some of those folks stayed in Bradford but a few meandered N,S, E and W ... and I was having trouble locating information for those that moved a bit North.  wait ... wait for a couple of hours, let folks chime in ... then the revelation that I'd just found my Wall ... drum roll ... Hadrian's Wall ... I know, I need help!

On the home front ... started a batch of Limoncello last weekend ... time to add the sugar water/syrup and bottle it up.  I love lemons!  Ooooh, chicken or veal picatta with capers and fettucine.
by Bob Jewett G2G Astronaut (1.2m points)
We have a lemon tree just outside our bedroom window and right now it's full, full, full of perfectly ready lemons.  It's a big tree, must have two hundred of so lemons on it.
What a great plan ... on all levels.  I have golfing friends here that do Colorado in the Spring and Summer and Arizona in the Fall and Winter.

I also do the side roads ... drives the GPS person crazy!!  Turn around, turn around ... no, I know where I'm going!
Ooo ... I made Limoncello a couple of New Years Eves in a row ... love the stuff.

Not good news for those driving thru Atlanta on a daily basics  including one of my family members, on the major interstate that cuts thru the middle of the city. A 2-alarm fire burned Thursday afternoon under a bridge on I-85 near Georgia 400 in Atlanta. After the fire burned for about 45 minutes, a segment of the roadway collapsed. Officials confirmed that no one was injured in the fire, though miles of cars were stopped on the bridge just yards from the collapsed section.

Then went to check database errors report on WikiTree and went from 0 errors on my Generations 1-10 to around 30 errors because of Find A Grave results. But from what I have been reading, I am one of the lucky ones with a low amount of additions. A lot of conversations going on concerning that so I will leave it at that.  Good Luck to all who are now dealing with fixing whatever errors they encountered.

I like the fact we are having a "Spring Clean-a-Thon" April 22-24 to clear out the many database errors everyone is encountering. I am sure the help will be greatly appreciated. See this post if your interested in helping out: https://www.wikitree.com/g2g/370415/will-you-register-for-the-spring-clean-a-thon

Oh and beware of tomorrow... April lst, traditionally known as April Fools Day lol!!!

That's really scary looking, Dorothy!!! I'm glad everyone was OK. Do you know what started the fire?

The fire ignited in a fenced-in area under the expressway where the state had stored construction materials; those materials included high-density polyethylene pipesAuthorities believe that the fire was started intentionally.Three homeless people were arrested, one man has been charged with criminal damage to property and two others with criminal trespass. The investigation continues.

I'm not saying the 3 homeless guys are innocent, but whoever made the decision to store that much flammable material underneath should be held to account as well.

I totally agree.

When I first started Wikitreeing I had no confidence to do in-line citations so I just posted links and citations for sources.  About a year ago I finally forced myself to learn how to do it, (which took about one attempt and five minutes)  :D

Since then, I've been writing paragraphs to explain the citations and I figure this is going to consume all my Wikitree time for about the next year.

When I get through with all of that I will still need to proofread all the writing and establish a more polished narrative.

That's basically why I haven't been participating in the Weekend Chat much lately, "so much to do, so little time".

Next week or so, I'll drive from Spain to Nederland.  It's lovely going through France in the springtime.  I always travel the old highway in order to sightsee.  There's the old quaint towns and what-have-yous and all the flowers.  Occasionally you get stuck behind some farm machinery using the road but I'm in no hurry!  The alternative is the motorway that is very boring, like all motorways.

Hi y'all!  I'm Summer! I'm 37, mom of 3 humans, 2 canines, 1 feline, and 1 husband.  I was born and raised in Nashville, Tennessee but have lived in Texas for the last 6 years for my hubby's work. My hobbies are WikiTree, genealogy in general, sewing, crocheting, reading, crafts of all types, astronomy, ordering things from amazon, and pretending my youngest is already potty trained.

Leaders, Mentors, Greeters, Pilots - What tips can you share with us today? While I'm none of these, my tip is always the same.  Sources, sources, sources. Provide them!

What improvements can we make? I think one is being worked on already - namely the process for unresponsive or inactive profile managers. Also, I think it would be awesome to have a "Manager's Notes" or "Notepad" tab on each profile, only visible to profile managers (and Leaders if necessary), for making notes that not everyone particularly needs to see. One thing I would LOVE is if the free-space pages had the capability to edit sections (like the project pages) without having to scroll down the entire page.

What do you enjoy most about WikiTree? Projects!  Collaboration with other humans! Getting a sense of purpose and fulfillment from my work.

Do you have any stories to share about famous or notorious ancestors? My 6th great-grandfather Jacqués Timothé Boucher, Sieur De Montbrun (anglicized as Timothy Demonbreun) of Boucherville, Quebec, is recognized as the "first citizen of Nashville." All of my life I've known who he was because everyone from that area does.  There is a "Demonbreun Street" downtown, a statue of him, and a couple of historical markers. It wasn't until last year I found out I was a descendant. I joined the Timothy Demonbreun Heritage Society this year!

What projects are you involved in, and how are they going? Here's a list of the ones for which I am coordinator, and they are all going well!

What's the weather been like in your neck-of-the-woods?  This is south Texas. It's hot. Always hot. And I don't dare go in the woods here....way too many snakes!

Summer, "mom of 3 humans, 2 canines, 1 feline, and 1 husband."  Does this mean the husband isn't human, canine or feline?

(Sorry couldn't help it I still need something to reduce the 1840 census stress)

Husbands are their own species, are they not?!? Hahahahaha
I suppose so, the best and worst of all three!

Well,  just had my 88th birthday this past week -- the 30th.  I live in a retirement community and we had our best dinner of the year (Irish stew) the night of my birthday dinner (the 29th, actually) so that was nice. Got a beautiful bouquet of flowers -- otherwise all is quiet here.

On another note -- in Bios, I've removed the <references/> from sources and put it in a separate section labeled ==Citations==, which I position right before == Acknowledgments ==, which, in turn, I position right before == Sources ==.  That arrangement seems logical to me and is the order in which you find things arranged in a book, if I'm not mistaken.

Beautiful weather here in Winchester, Virginia, for April Fool's Day.

Pat

Thats a good idea Patricia, I like that!!!  HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!

The 1840 Census for Union County AR is giving me fits.  5 townships, and one "Not Stated". I think I have 3 done. I'm not too sure. The pages are totally misplaced. The slave and other statistical data does not match with the Head of House page. What is called one township has multiple townships in them. And all but 2 of the townships are in areas that were ceded off to form other counties.

Oh well I'll get it sorted soon. Somehow.
Pat, just read your bio!!! Moomaw is such a rare name. How do I know this??? My first introduction to genealogy was by a Moomaw. She had married into the name. And she traced her husband's family and her own.  And she collected any and all.  She had created this scroll like thing of numerous pedigree charts staggered down, so that Person # continued as Person # on sheet # And you could just flip down to that sheet. Her name was Viola but she went by Moomaw. Everyone called her Moomaw. her former husband was named Frank. And she had 2 kids, Joker and Dianne. They had come to this little podunk town in the Mojave Desert from Kansas.  And her genealogy was done the old fashioned way. And 1960s didn't have too many census available. And she had all of this work done.  She died several years ago from complications of a broken hip. Mama and Moomaw took off across country one year and camped when they got tired. And we are talking tent and sleeping bag camping. Two senior women galavanting around the country in sleeping bags.

Hello fellow wikitree-ers.  I'm an on-again off-again wikitree-er but since I just retired (got my first SS check auto-deposited this morning), I hope to become more active. My genealogy is entirely in New England back to the Great Migration, my wife's is VA/NC across into KY and southern IL.

This season is TAX season. I volunteer with AARP and it has been very rough. We have new software that is taking getting used to and still has bugs. We have scheduled fewer clients, but still seem a bit overworked. I  have been filling in for sick and vacationing coworkers and am starting to burn out. I actually relax by working on Wikitree.

I had cleaned up my report so the new Find A Grave errors is giving me something to do. It is possible to talk to the contributors of Find A Grave. I have started adding photos to some graves. I found a cousin who works with Find A Grave in one of the cemeteries our joint ancestors are buried in. She has provided me with photos of my ancestors that her family had. I posted some on Wikitree with her permission.
