As I have been putting up my family here on WikiTree I realized just how many children died before their time. Some families had multiple children die within days or months of each other. I cannot imagine how their parents felt. The heart break they must have felt. Loneliness they felt for the child they would never see, hug or kiss again Never to b66ecome an adult, marry or have children of their own. And the children still alive. The remorse they must have felt. To have a sibling they dearly loved to suddenly be gone. For the very young ones the possibility of not even remembering them. Does anyone have an idea to honor the children.

Yeah.  I've thought about it myself.

I don't think that just putting their names on a list is good enough though.

There are children dying in hospitals all over right now of cancer and other diseases.  If you want to honor the dead children, then donate to the living but dying children in the names of those children or parents of children who passed on long ago.  Maybe another parent can be spared the same grief that those other parents felt.

Depends on if you just want to acknowledge them on Wiki or if you want to honor with a donation to your favorite children's charity.

Every time I see a situation like this, I can't help but wonder if there was an epidemic or battle that caused entire families or a large portion of a family to die suddenly.

I wished we had a data base of events we could reference for plagues, epidemics etc.

We already donate monthly to Shriners Hospital for Children as well as St Jude.  We have nephews that have been helped by Shriners and our son works for St Jude. We also volunteer so that is covered. Since I am a grief counselor I deal with grieving families daily. All children need to be recognized and honored.

Loretta, I like the idea of a data base for the epidemics of the times. Maybe someone will be able to start one here.

Thank you and your family for giving so much. We were lucky enough to get my son into a Shriners Hospital, they and St. Jude are wonderful places.

Yes, I agree all children need to be honored. Maybe our leaders can make this a project. Healing Hands and Hearts.

Thank you for sharing!

I have a situation like that in my ancestry.  My 3ggrandfather had several daughters who died within a short period of time.  I think I'll take the time to enter them into WikiTree since I haven't done it yet.  I'm sure it must have been a disease, but I don't know that it was an epidemic.  I have pictures of the gravestones i can upload too.

In 1863, in Wentworth, New Hampshire, typhoid fever killed  Francena A. Davis's three children.

Attwell-117, lost two sons (age 16 and 20) and a daughter age 6 in a one-month period.  Francena had one more child.  I have not found her death certificate, and Find-a-Grave's only "Francena A Davis" is not a match.  Levi W. Davis, Francena's husband, married Abby, a widow who was my ancestor.

I can't imagine how tragic that epidemic must have been. These survivors who came before us -- wow!  Fortitude and flexibility -- and, most likely, faith.  -- Janine
