What do I do when there seems to be a match? I find the instructions quite unclear.

Just did this, does not help that I stay up late after work and stay on the computer too long!!  Plus, total rookie here!

When you are going through your matches look for regions, dates of birth, were they know to be in that area, is the time right? Names right? you can slip over to the magnifying glass and see the persons profile; when you see the Green C-(DNA connection) click on that, compare the two people side by side, if it is a match, hit that button it will automatically check that person to the right.  There is a four digit number beside Green C-that will be the profile of the person if they already have a profile on Wiki-this prevents you from creating a profile for someone who already has one.  They don't want the tree to be filled with duplicates.  They also like when those matches are well documented, i.e. birth, death, marriage records, Federal Censuses, If you reject that person as not a match, it will build a new profile and assign a four diget indentifying number.  When you reject them they will not be offered again as a match to you.  All names with no dates and everyone born earlier than 1700 are automatically check marked off-they don't a bunch of empty profiles.  There has to be check marks all the way down on that left side.  Point is, if it has a profile number and there is a DNA connection, there is either alread a profile, or you will be creating one.  They connect you to people on there that you can coordinate with, share information with.  You can exchange records and information and get the vital statistics right (births, deaths, marriages), family relations, and places lived.  And other people may have pictures and family stories to share.  Also, if you have missed any one of the people, when you submit it by hitting the green submit here if you read and understand and have signed the honor code, they will check it over and send it back if any lines are left unchecked on the right or if you skipped over comparing any of the lines.  They got mine back to me in about 15 minutes, when I went back and corrected it and resubmitted it, they give a 24-48 hour time frame.  They will send you an email through your regular email.  If they except it then your new profiles will be on wiki, and you can edit it, or if you include someone you have communicated with as a trusted person, they can edit information with you.   Hope this helps.
