Can I create a new category using a Free Space Page

Question

Within the England Project we have a category for Project Managed Free Space Pages (FSPs). I wanted to create a new subcategory within that for a specific set of FSPs. So I tried to use one of that set to create the new category. Naturally, WikiTree complained that the category didn't exist. However, it gave me no "SAVE ANYWAY" button, as happens when creating a new category using a profile.

Is there no way to create a new category using an FSP?

(Note: I worked around it by using a profile to create the category, then deleting the category from the profile.)

Hi Roy, a fix is in the works and will be completed soon.

We added a check to both Categories and Free Space Pages to check for invalid category names (those with certain characters), but the check was a bit too aggressive.

I have noticed some wonky things with category creation lately; namely when a "red" category is a parent category, it cannot be added as it was in the past. I am not sure why this occurred (happened to me at least three times in the last few weeks). It could possibly be the fault of a WikiTree app I have installed as an extension, but I'm unsure.

Thanks Natalie. Unfortunately, my question also covers a potentially more serious problem for me. I have a FSP entitled Code for Excel statistics spreadsheets. This page contains a snapshot of coding used in the generation of England Project statistics. A small part of the coding relates to the creation of category links (you can find it by searching for "Category:". There are two instances. All of the code is contained between "<nowiki>" tags. When I try to edit that page, I am unable to save it because of this problem.

I've had a similar problem trying to add a parent category as well this week.

I just tried to add a new category from an FSP and from an existing category. CANNOT save the page. So, right now I can only add a new category from a person profile or from the URL.
