William H Holtslag, born abt 1801 in Netherlands, lived in Brown County, Kansas

Question

Hey everyone!

I found records of a William H Holtslag in mortgages and grantor/grantee deeds in Brown County, Kansas, dating from the 1850s and 1860s. They are found on his profile.

I also found a naturalisation application dating to 1848, but this is in Ozaukee, Wisconsin. It states that William H Holtslag was born about 1801 in the Netherlands.

I know almost nothing about tracing genealogy in the USA - but Holtslag is a very rare surname from the Netherlands, and I have an ONS under construction for the name. I am keen to find the origins of this man and hopefully trace him back to the Netherlands (and connect him to the tree!)

I can't seem to find William in any census records or anything else - any ideas anyone? Any help would be much appreciated.
