What do you think of this scenario? John de Mowbray d. 1373 was 2nd son of William de Mowbray b.c.1283 Easby Stokesley, Yorks who was descended from Robert de Mowbray b.c. 1146 who was the brother of Nigel de Mowbray b.c. 1145. http://www.ardrosshouse.com/images/mowbray_outline_v5b.pdf
(Note, though, that in Testamentum Eboracumvol. 1, no. 132, dated 30th July 1391, a footnote says that the John who married Margaret Percy was ‘lineally descended from Robert de Mowbray, a younger brother of the ancestor of Mowbray, Duke of Norfolk’
John was appointed as a judge of Common Pleas in 1359 and m Margaret PERCY. They had 3 sons one of whom was John b. abt 1325. This could be the John who had a daughter Mary who married Thomas Saltmarsh, except one site says that this John was a clergyman. My Heritage shows this Mary as being the daughter of Baron de Mowbray. Richardson says he had no daughter Mary.
