How do I change the last name from (Unknown) to birth name Jeffries

US International Marriages is not a reliable source.  It was created by Ancestry from people's entered family trees, with no other sourcing.

Please revert those recent changes as they are unproven.  As it states in the profile, "While entirely plausible, this has not been confirmed by scholarly sources."

Hi Ariel,

I reverted some of your changes and incorporated the source into the existing material.

You may not have noticed that this was a pre-1700 profile, so extra care needs to be taken with collaborating and evaluating your sources.

As Bobbie and Linda have pointed out there is quite a bit of material discussing that her last name is unknown, and that the Jefferies theory isn't very strong.

The source you provided "US & International Marriages" database is pretty deceptive.  I originally thought these were actual marriage records, but they are just dates lifted from people's gedcoms, or submitted family group sheets and pedigree charts.  Not necessarily wrong, but it's impossible to know where the information came from and MUCH of the info is wrong and outdated.  Especially for pre-1700 profiles we need to find scholarly material that cites original records, or the original records themselves.
