Akins: Brickwall

Attn: I've seen this name spelled Akins/Eakins/etc.

This is my 2nd brickwall, and my guess is the hardest one.  Census records say he said he was born in Georgia, then others say he was born in Illinois.  I have no clue if he has brothers/sisters, nor the name of his parents.  I just can't crack this one.

This is approximations for James H. Akins:

B:1832 Illinois, USA
D: Murphysboro, Jackson, Illinois, United States

James was married twice, firstly to a Delphiann Chandler, and then to Amelia Davis.  Amelia is the mother of my great great grandmother Susannah Ann Akins who married Jesse Franklin Jones, Sr.

At one point, my DNA at Ancestry said that Jane Akins was his mother, and that  her Parents are:

James "Knob Hill" Walker Aiken Sr

B:9 Jan 1775 On route on ship on passage from Co. Antrium, Ireland to Philadelphia, PA
D:31 October 1856 Akin, Eastern Township, Franklin County, Illinois, United States of America

Mother:

Catherine Jane (Katy) McLean

B:24 Sep 1777 Alamance Creek, Guilford, North Carolina, USA

D:08 Sep 1853 Franklin County, Illinois, USA

If this is true, I'm supposing that James may be illigetimate because as far as I can tell Jane never married.

Although many Irish census records were destroyed, close to 40,000 1851 records survived.many in Antrim. I cannot see any with family name Aikins, but there are some with spelling of Aiken. https://www.census.nationalarchives.ie
