On 10 Mar 2024 Mary Stanley wrote on Stanley-103: I am new to this group but Connect to Thomas Stanley and want to make some corrections to him supported by my research. 1st wife is Rebecca (last name unknown). Have a highly probably marriage record in Christ Church for Thomas and Rebecca 1687- appears to have some errors on transcription. Also date suggests were married after Mary was born - but they were practicing. Have baptismal record for first child Mary in 1686 Christ church, Middlesex, Virginia. Rebecca is likely deceased before Thomas becomes a quaker before 1700. possible 2nd wife Anne Case (Cayce, or Cace) - quaker meeting minutes Henrico 1700 - Thomas Stanley witnessing marriage of Thomas Langford and Martha West - one of the other people witnessing the marriage is Anne Cace. In 1703 Thomas Standley is witnessing another marriage between Samuel Jordan and Elizabeth Fleming - among the other witnesses is Anne Standley. Given the lack of other data - and realizing this is an intuitive leap - it looks like Thomas Stanley married Anne Cace between 1700 and 1703. There are no Anne Stanleys in this immediate family that I know of. 1724 Thomas removed for MOU - Anne Cace probably deceased. Do not know the name of wife. Thomas Stanley's marriage to Mary Holme does not occur until after 1736. Mary Holmes complete identity is Mary Watkins Hutchins Holmes Stanley. Her first husband is Nicholas Hutchins, after his death she married someone by the name of Holmes, then Holmes dies. James Stanley, Son of Thomas and husband of Catherine Hutchins, daughter of Nicholas Hutchins, is asking Quakers for help taking care of his Mother in law - which would be Catherine's mother - or Mary Hutchins Holmes. Shortly after Thomas Stanley is attached to Mary Holmes - who is NOT A QUAKER. He was already removed from the Quakers by 1724 for MOU - probably that wife is also deceased by 1736. Thomas Stanleys birth date has always been estimated - based on dates of the birth of his children. There is a court record in 1673 where Thomas Stanley is being sued by Gabriell Harison for work "dismissed" - what ever that means. Anyway if Thomas was born about 1660 he was only 13 at the time and this seems unlikely - This suggests that his birth date should be moved back to an estimate of at least 1655. Some of the children listed of Thomas cannot be proven. Would like to see the proofs on any child other than Mary, Thomas, James and John. These are proven with baptismal records. Jacob is a possibility - as a child of Anne Cace - but I am searching for proof - same for Zacchariah. Can someone who reads this messages contact me so I can share my sources. Thomas Stanley's history is always distorted by him constantly being cited as married to Mary Holme and his children being cited with her as the mother.
