Newt Flores-Ruballo-1 ... my brickwall ancestor

Francisco Eliseo Durán my great-great-grandfather was probably born in  Santa Ana, El Salvador, possibly in the years 1878-1881.

He was possibly born in Chalchuapa, Santa Ana, Atiquizaya, Ahuachapán (all of these cities are in El Salvador).

I don't know if he married, but he had 2 children with Angela de Jesús Ortiz Peñate.

The children are:

Francisco Raúl Ortiz Durán (1910-1991)

Domitila de Jesús Ortiz Durán (1905-1959)

Any help will be appreciated, thanks!

I found the birth record for Francisco Raul Ortiz; apparently his mother was not married at the time of his birth. Here is the citation for that record:

"El Salvador Registro Civil, 1704-2001," database with images, FamilySearch(https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:QLS6-SPJK : 15 April 2022), Francisco Raúl Ortíz, ; citing , Birth Registration; citing , departmento de la Libertad, Registros Civiles (Department of Libertad, Civil Registers), El Salvador; FHL microfilm 1,159,158. Image 61 of 677.

This is the birth record for the sister:

"El Salvador Registro Civil, 1704-2001," database with images, FamilySearch(https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:Q26Z-RMCN : 15 April 2022), Domitila de Jesus Ortiz, ; citing , Birth Registration; citing , departmento de la Libertad, Registros Civiles (Department of Libertad, Civil Registers), El Salvador; FHL microfilm 1,159,156.

Neither record says much about the mother.

Were the children in the family baptized? Contacting the church might yield their baptismal records. Sometimes records for children of unmarried parents will name both parents. Also, some Catholic baptismal records name the grandparents.

Sometimes when you write to the Church your letter is just ignored, and you never get a reply. You would probably have a better chance of success if somebody personally went to the church.

There is also this record for Angela Ortiz

"El Salvador Registro Civil, 1704-2001," database with images, FamilySearch(https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:47QZ-LHT2 : 18 April 2022), Angela Ortiz Peñate, ; citing , Death Registration; citing , departmento de la Libertad, Registros Civiles (department of Libertad, Civil Registers), El Salvador; FHL microfilm .

And this

"El Salvador Registro Civil, 1704-2001," database with images, FamilySearch(https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:Q26C-DDPZ : 15 April 2022), Angela Ortíz Peñate, ; citing , Birth Registration; citing , departmento de la Libertad, Registros Civiles (Department of Libertad, Civil Registers), El Salvador; FHL microfilm 1,153,677.

Hey, George! Thanks for finding the birth records for both Domitila and Francisco and also for finding the death record of Angela, I appreciate it a lot.

I will ask my grandmother if her dad (Francisco) or her aunt (Domitila) were baptized by any chance, because I know that by many generations my family has been catholic.

I will also start searching for any christening records in between 1905-1910.

Thanks for helping me!
Manuel

Glad to be of help. I did not see any church records for Chachualpa … if that is a real small town, it might not have a church. If that’s the case, they would have gone to a church in a nearby town.

My experience is with Mexican Catholic records, I would expect that Church records from Central America would be similar.

Best of luck!

George
