Robert Smyth and Susan Carson, his wife, arrived in Australia from Ireland in about 1840s. And went to Daylesford Vic. I cannot find anything on their arrival or before arrival.

Have you tried looking at the Passenger Lists for South Australia https://www.archives.sa.gov.au/finding-information/discover-our-collection/migration-and-crew/passenger-lists-1845-1940

or the Assisted Passenger Lists for NSW https://mhnsw.au/guides/assisted-immigrants-digital-shipping-lists/.

These were the two main entry points into Australia. Also Queensland has online Passenger Lists as well.
