If the Civil war information cannot be located is it appropriate to use  sticker?  I have been using one which states "Nicholas Snyder served in the Civil War"  If I have information: Dates, Regiment, Unit and Rank then I would the formal tag or sticker.

Yes, you can still use the sticker. You would just leave the information that you do not know blank.

{{US Civil War|side=USA}}

{{US Civil War|side=CSA}}

Yes, as Lucy suggested these bare bones stickers are appropriate. I also use then when writing bios of Generals and Colonels. Their bios may be lengthy and some involve more than one regiment. So, I use the CSA or USA sticker. Then add the regiments in the categories and the service information in the written bio.

My point is the simple USA or CSA sticker is not only appropriate, it is very handy.

In the case where information is scarce. The USA or CSA sticker gets things started. Perhaps someone else will eventually come along with new information to build on what you have started.
I should have explained a little more.  I have many ancestors who participated in many wars.  At this point I am just trying to honor them by at least putting that sticker on their profile.  The problem is, I am being told by Data Doctors I "am missing the required parameter in template."  I would like to know what is the requited parameter so I can do it???
Io,,

Give me the ID for one of your profilles that Data Doctor says is missing a parameter. I will take a look at it and see if I can figure out what is going on.
Okay, just to make sure I will give you a couple so you can compare. Error 894, Stout-2312, Stout-2326, Snyder-17879.

Also, could you assist in another problem I have?  Data Doctor states  I have Error 931,  "Project Box Without Project Account"  Snyder-17787, Markle-1650, Burchell-431, Burchell 430, Burchell-432, Burchell-423, and Snyder-14932

There must be a place where this code "Error 931" is listed with an explanation of how to correct it.
First one, Theodore A Stout, ID Stout 2312..  The missing parameter error is that the Civil War sticker does not designate whether he was Union or Confederate (USA for Union and CSA for Confederate), See Lucy's answer. The Civil War sticker must include the side. I will took at the others as soon as I can find Theodore's service records to fix his.
