Hi Wikitreers,

We have Henry Gillpatrick whose occupation is listed as a “Jailer” per his fold3. This is another occupation that is very rare as no other veteran I’ve researched in the regiment has this listed. We have a few clues to his life. He was 22 years old when he enlisted in Brooklyn New York on October 29th 1864 into the 106th New York Infantry Regt. Company H.

Any collaboration in getting him connected is appreciated

Thank you

Note: Does he have a FindAGrave memorial?

I have added sources to his profile. If I am wrong just remove them.

Thank you Chris

I’m not sure it’s the same person but is possible. Henry Gilpatrick it appears enlisted in Brooklyn at age 22 and occupation was a jailer.

Henry Kilpatrick seems to have Kentucky roots and was a farmer in the 1870 census.

I’d like to find his obit or a source showing the connection to Brooklyn, jailer, 106th NYV.

Interesting the names are very similar Kilpatrick and Gilpatrick

Research ongoing smiley

I believe this is the William Henry Kilpatrick of Kentucky see https://civilwardata.com/active/hdsquery.dll?SoldierHistory?U&1331003 “Enlisted on 9/25/1861 at Crittenden County, KY as a Private. Per familysearch bio: When William Henry Kilpatrick was born on 22 August 1842, in Kentucky, United States, his father, Wesley Milton Kilpatrick, was 21 and his mother, Mary Catherine Elson, was 18. He married Virginia Ann Franklin on 13 December 1865, in Johnson, Illinois, United States. They were the parents of at least 4 sons and 5 daughters. He lived in Hurricane, Crittenden, Kentucky, United States in 1880 and Webster Number 5 Precinct, Pope, Illinois, United States in 1910. He died on 25 December 1911, in Pope, Illinois, United States, at the age of 69, and was buried in Roland Cemetery, Webster Number 5 Precinct, Pope, Illinois, United States.

Possibly a conflation of two men similar names

Here is William Henry Kilpatrick (1842 - 1911) on Wikitree. I believe likely not the same as Henry Gillpatrick however Henry might of been a Kilpatrick but a different lineage?
