I've been on an epic Québec connection mission, starting with Amarilda Landry, the wife of my granduncle Henri. I've connected her in every branch, except one: Marticot/Marticotte. I have documented back to François Marticotte, born in Montmagny in 1764.
The father of François was Etienne Marticot. I have some documention for him, but no one seems to know where he was born other than France, birth year estimate 1720 from his burial record (he would have to have been a rather late settler). Marticot, later Marticotte, was a "dit" name that eventually became the family name. The original family name was Ayet, or one of many other spellings that match phonetically. There are many Ayet and Hayet in the tree. I'm hoping to get some input before I create a profile and have to assign him a last name at birth, with a baptismal record to go by.
The mother of François was Anne Françoise Daguet, called Marie on his baptismal record. The information I have in Ancestry, probably from Geneanet, is that she was born in Saint-Pierre-du-Nord, Île-Saint-Jean, Acadie, today St. Peter's Bay on the north shore of PEI. I believe her father is René Renaud Daguet (Renaud-530). Again, I would love some input before I create the profile and especially before I link it. Maybe this profile (once it exists) could be adopted into the Acadian Project?
Again probably from Geneanet and therefore of unknown reliability, there is a marriage date for Etienne and Anne Françoise of 27 November 1753 in Acadia. By 5 November 1756, the date of the birth of their first child, they were in Montmagny. I don't see them in the previous several years of registries.
