There are two things to achieve here.
1. getting your family and ancestors profiled. and 2. Connecting to the world wide Tree.
When new ones start to enter their pedigree, they are unconnected until one of their ancestors merges with someone already profiled in the "tree". Maybe a distant cousin shares a 3rd great grandfather with you and has already made a profile of him. When you connect, you will see the full picture of your heritage. The more connections you can make, the more people you will discover you are related to. You may be related to a Mayflower Passenger, President, Movie Star, Kings and Queens, distant cousins and ME! Yep! We could be cousins!
The learning curve is a little steep so take "baby steps" and always ask for help on this forum! The members here have bent over backwards to help me. I have been here two years, I knew nothing about genealogy, and the members here helped me to learn how to do things and use the tools to find sources to document my pedigree properly! I can't thank them enough!
