Can I get a list of cemeteries my ancestors are in?  Some way to just get MY ancestors and the cemeteries where they are located?

For your ancestors at Find-a-Grave, if you are a member (membership is free), you can set up a virtual cemetery and collect all your ancestors and their families.

Hi Douglas. Maybe the reverse of what you ask could be useful. Steven Harris has an app that can map cemeteries then show your connections in a particular one: see this G2G post.

I added the "improvements" tag to this question, because this seems to be a worthwhile feature that at least one member would like to have.
Thanks for this.  I do think more people would be interested in this.  I'm using it to find and visit ancestors' graves which are in my area.

Steven, in principle this is broadly correct, but note that for Douglas it is more complicated because his father is living so has an unlisted profile. Since WikiTree+ doesn't include unlisted profiles, the query you suggested won't pick up any of his paternal ancestors. To pick up his paternal side you would also need to include the ancestors of his paternal grandfather and paternal grandmother. However his paternal grandmother is also still living, so on that line you have to start from his paternal grandmother's parents.

There is also a bit of a problem with using "CategoryWord=Cemetery" as that will miss a number of cemeteries. For example his maternal grandmother https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Ritzman-140 is buried in "Lena Burial Park, Lena, Illinois" (as are quite a lot of his other ancestors) and his 27 x great grandfather https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Astley-6 is buried in "St Mary the Virgin Churchyard, Astley, Warwickshire". To get around that you can replace "CategoryWord=Cemetery" by "subcat9=Cemeteries", which takes quite a lot longer to run but will find cemetery categories that don't contain the word cemetery.

The considerably more complicated query that Douglas would need, which finds 57 profiles rather than the 13 found by the simpler query, is: https://plus.wikitree.com/default.htm?report=srch1&Query=Ancestors%3DKohn-970+subcat9%3DCemeteries+or+Ancestors%3DKohn-973+subcat9%3DCemeteries+or+Ancestors%3DKraft-1876+subcat9%3DCemeteries+or+Ancestors%3DFeld-246+subcat9%3DCemeteries&MaxProfiles=500&Format=&SortOrder=BiDa

I'll play around with this and see what I come up with.  It would be nice to just get a list of the ancestors and the cemetery they are burried in.
Seems like the Family List would be a good starting point.  Would just need to add the Cemetery info and a sort on cemetery/cemetery location option.  Couple of issues with the existing sorts. (1) when sorting large groups of names based on last name, should automatically include secondary sort on first name.  (2)  when sorting on location should start with highest level and then secondary sorts down to the lowest level, eg Country, State, County, Town, Cemetery.
I could probably draw this up in an app relatively quickly. I will look into it shortly.
This was quick and dirty - give it a shot and let me know how we can expand it.

Steven, I think the app looks like a great start. I did a quick test of it using my own ancestors and it found some of them but it seemed to miss a few - my 3 x great grandfather https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Taylor-47556 and his wife and also my 5 x great grandfather https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Taylor-49247 and his wife, all of whom are buried in All Saints Churchyard, Freshwater, Isle of Wight. I also seem to have a number of "bonus" people listed, who are relatives but not direct ancestors, for example my great granduncle https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Wall-4584 and my 2nd great grandaunt https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Purkis-50.

I think a useful enhancement would be to include the WikiTree ID, or even a link to the profile, as I was struggling to work out who some of the people might be just from their first and last names. Maybe middle names could be included too, as that would help to identify some of them.

I have done a bit of work on it - see how it is behaving now. I will circle back to the name links tomorrow.

Thanks Steven, the app is now showing exactly the people I would expect and the other changes make it much easier to see exactly which ancestors they are.
