2023 WikiGames - Marvelous Maples Team Chat

Question

Hello and welcome to Team Marvelous Maples! It's time to start thinking about the WikiGames!

We have three events
* Sourcing Slalom starting Friday, August 25 at 8 am EDT/Noon UTC 
* Cross Country Connecting on Saturday, August 26 at 8 am EDT/Noon UTC 
* CC7x7 Wall Climb on Sunday, August 27 at 8 am EDT/Noon UTC.

You can give us updates on your progress, ask for and give help, etc. Remember don't start on our 4 Olympians until the start of the CC7x7 wall climb to maximise the gain. Nothing wrong with identifying potential connections beforehand though.

Hello Maple Mates, I'd quite like to work on this profile if that's okay? There are some relatives from England within CC7 and I'm comfortable with military records too.

Me too. 

I have family coming over this weekend, so won't be able to do a whole lot, but I still should be able to do some things. 

Unfortunately until someone finds a connection to the Netherlands for one of "our" Olympians I'll be totally useless for that event.

Just checking around to see what’s  out there. There seems to be a lot of info for Sharon Marie Stouder Clark on Ancestry.com

She seems to have a lot of connections on FindaGrave as well. Not the best source, but I actually might be able to add some profiles on Sunday after all.

Have you checked out the Family Search trees for the athletes? Is there info on Ancestry not there? (Just wondering)

Hi there my Marvellous Maple mates! This should be a fun WikiGames!  Do you prefer G2G or Discord for communicating?  Personally I prefer Discord because it’s easier to hold conversations a bit more informally, and if anyone needs assistance getting set up, I’d be happy to help out.

hello Maple Mates , I won't be able to do much sourcing on Friday because I will be travelling throughout the day, but happy to get stuck in for connecting and CC7 over the weekend.

My focus for connecting will be Barbados/Jamaica profiles.

Just checking if I'm doing this right. I looked in on the list for unsourced profiles for Illinois and found a family I a working on. The directions said to remove the "Unsourced" label at the top, and then save, and a message should pop asking if it is for a challenge and to pick Wiki Games. When I did that it didn't ask me for a challenge. Is that OK?

Hi Kelly, there will be a box at the top of the just-saved profile asking if you are taking part in a challenge.

It won't be there once you move to a new profile afterwards.

Hi, Kelly! You can make a small edit to the profile and save again. Then, you should see the button for Challenge Tracker show up across the top of the page in the Changes Saved message bar

Enter your WikiTree profile ID and enter a comment about the source added (there are presaved comments on the right you can choose from, just click which one applies)

I do not know what others are working on but I've started with Sharon Clark. I know that Joke is working on Henry Murray's family. And Karen has started on Walter Rutherford.

Does anyone want to take the lead on David Hammond?
