Who cleans up the Private and Public profiles listed in the Needs Gedcom Cleanup category?

How are private and public profiles dealt with when they end up in a maintenance category and no one but the ones on their trusted list can do anything about it?

Here is a gedcom cleanup maintenance category where almost all of the profiles cant be dealt with (at least by me) because of the privacy level. There are pre-1500 ones too, but I don't count those as I am not certified to deal with them.

I am assuming the PM of the profile or someone on the trusted list added the category, but for whatever reason cannot do the cleanup themselves??? But no one else can???

Befuddled, any answers??

I would use the Unresponsive Profile Managers procedure to have the profiles opened if they clearly represent deceased individuals and the profile manager (if any) doesn't respond to communications.

I believe that category may have been automatically added, either when the profile was added as part of an older gedcom import, although it could have been added by a member seeing that the profile was never cleaned up after import.  It's not likely that the PM or a trusted list member added the category - it's more likely that they either aren't aware that the category is there because if they were aware that the cleanup is needed, they would have done it rather than adding the category to it.

Either way, if you're up for trying to get these profiles cleaned up, you could start by writing to the profile manager(s) to let them know that this work is needed.  If they don't respond and you're still anxious to resolve the problem, then you could escalate to the Unresponsive Profile Manager process.

It could not be added by "a member" because of the privacy level setting. Only the PM or whomever they already have on the trusted list can edit.

It is as you say more likely it was automatically added during the import. Or it was a step included in the gedcom upload instructions as I have seen it added by the PM after the upload. On some profiles you can view the changes and see where the category got added, even if you cant edit.

I think the maintenance categories should not be available to profiles that have their privacy level where only the trusted list can edit. Makes no sense for them to add a maintenance category as no one can help them unless the PM adds them to the trusted list.

Since I see this happening I was wondering if there were any members with a way to do the cleanup without having to go the Unresponsive PM route.

Guess not, what a long tedious process. No wonder they have been sitting there. Some are for Living profiles. Can't even see what needs doing on those, or if the category actually is needed. Sometimes the category is left behind after the cleanup is complete.
