How do you properly cite a legacy page such as an obituary or remembrance when it isn’t a newspaper article?

Found my great aunts obituary where it links her to her last husband as well as his-but it’s the only source I could find on a quick look… trying to get some quick citations from the car dealership..

This is how I would cite the source of the obituary.

*"Great Aunt Name", Legacy.com (or whatever the name of site is), [website address/url of obituary (space) Obituary], (accessed Date), Transcript of details

Legacy.com obituaries usually have the original source at the bottom of the page – hardly any of them are unique to legacy.com. If it originally came from a newspaper, I might cite it like this:

"John Lastname", Newspaper Name; City, State; Publication date, via legacy.com (Link to legacy obituary, accessed date).

or if it came from a funeral home, I try to check the funeral home's website to see if it is still available there.

I just noticed that you mentioned it was on a funeral home's page, so I'd cite it like this:

"Relative's Name", Name of Funeral Home; City, State; Publication date or year. (link to the obit, accessed date)

For links to funeral homes, to make sure that the information is available in the future, it's a good idea to save them using the Wayback Machine (https://archive.org/web/) Plug the link into the "Save Page Now" box, and it creates an archived copy. That way if the funeral home's website goes away or they remove old obituaries, the Internet Archive has a copy of the page and anyone looking for the link can search for it there.
I have referenced this post so many times!! thank you so much!
