George Washington Williams was born in 1845 in Ohio. He married Sarah Frances Fay in Illinois in 1884. Sarah’s birth 1849 in Illinois and death was 1939 in Indiana. I’ve been on this since December your help is appreciated so much if you can. Thank you, Bill Williams

Have you created a profile for this man, including the details you have about him and the sources you have found? Other members are more likely to be able to provide meaningful advice if they can use the information you have already as a launching pad for further research. (If you have started a profile, "edit" your question above and insert a link in the appropriate box.)

Also, as a piece of general advice, when trying to break down a brick wall it's often very helpful to research and document other family members that we know about (such as brothers and sisters of the person whose parents we are looking for).
I have not started one on here since I’m unsure. Thanks for the tips!
George has a FamilySearch profile with sources you can use for his Wikitree profile:

I have created his profile with all of the information I can get. Thank you
Yes I put him in with the info I got from family search tree today
I’ve emailed  the Sangamon county Illinois clerks office in an attempt to get a copy of the 1884 marriage license. They have marriage records on file going back to 1821 so I’m hoping this solves everything! I appreciate all of the help you’ve been giving
I checked their statewide site for the marriage and couldn’t find it. I did find Sarah Frances Fay married to Klein. Could be another state.

Thanks I have that information but I am stuck at George. It’s so hard to find info on him. My family said he was Indian so that could be my issue. Thanks for helping!

So is Negro Creek Cemetery a cemetery for non white people?  If he was an Indian, he probably would not be allowed burial in a white folk cemetery.   This is a hard one, but thanks for sharing.wink

I’ve saw all races at that cemetery on find a grave app. I don’t think George is buried there

Have you taken a look at the profile on FamilySearch.org for George W. Williams, Jr.?

There is a profile on ancestry.com that treats him as identical to your George.

Roger, you might be on to something.  The Birth date is 1846, but we have siblings,  Pretty sketchy isn't it?  Maybe someone with deep dive experience can find out more

Birth is 1845 in th census’s that I’ve seen with Sarah F, Elmer S & Charles M Sangamon Illinois 1900 and 1910
If he is a Jr. I thought this might possibly be his father?
If I could find a 1884 marriage certificate for George and Sarah it would probably have his parents names but no luck
1920 census shows his birth of 1848 & father from Wales. He is listed as boarder living with his son Elmer and his family
