how does the dna confirmation feature work?

i don't quite get how that works. i put both my mom's and her dad's dna on here but yet it says confirmation of how they are related is still needed. my grandpa shows up on the top my mom's dna match, and ancestry predicted them to have a parent/child relationship which pretty much confirms that my grandpa is her bio-dad, but yet the page for my mom acts like i never linked my grandpa's dna test t the tree, and says he still needs dna confirmation.

 

what's up with that and how to fix it?

Hi Katherine, It can take up to 24 hours before DNA connections show up on WikiTree, so that may be the problem. You also need to change the privacy level on the profiles you want to display DNA information to at least as open as 'Private with Public Family Tree'. Because your profile is 'Private' we can't see who your parents are to be able to help you.

The DNA Confirmation Tool is for Y-DNA comparsons and mtDNA comparisons.  It is not designed for auDNA confirmation.

An example of how to describe a relationship confirmation using auDNA:

In my bio I state that I am the son of Martha Nan Dekle and give the following citation for my DNA evidence:

<ref>Maternal relationship is confirmed by a 1417.42 cM Family Finder match between  [[Roberts-7085|Peter Roberts]] GEDmatch F008867 and his maternal uncle [[Dekle-6|Dekle-6]] GEDmatch F15373.</ref>  

(My uncle and I share the expected about of auDNA to be uncle and nephew and thus he is a full sibling of my mother and thus they are children of the same parents.)

Then I select the radio button for Confirmed with DNA for my relationship to my mother.
