Welcome to the SA Springboks April 2023 Connect-a-Thon G2G discussion page.

Ronel, I am having such FOMO. I picked a profile that is Public but not Open, so I can't update with the information I found - I messged the profile manager.

Is die doelwit om soveel moontlik "nuwe" profiele te skep en te koppel of moet daar hoofsaaklik na die Wikitree lys van "ongekoppelde profiele" gekyk word. Soos ek verstaan kry jy punte vir enige profiel selfs vir 'n nuutgeskepte profiel solank daar net bronne gewys word.

Ek antwoord omslagtig ten voordeel van ander wat ook hieroor wonder :-) 

Die doelwit is inderdaad om nuwe mense toe te voeg en te koppel  aan die stamboom 

Voorbeeld Skep 'n nuwe profiel vir A, Geen punt  vir ongekoppelde nuwe profiele geskep  

Skep 'n nuwe profiel vir B en koppel B aan A, 1 punt 

Voeg nuwe kinders by A en B, 'n punt vir elke nuwe kind  

So ook vir nuwe ouers en nuwe  sibbe vir beide A en B    'n punt vir elkeen toegevoeg 

Kortliks gestel -  'n punt vir elke nuwe, profiel wat aan die boom gekoppel   word.    

Die enigste vereiste is dat elke nuwe profiel van 'n  primêre  bron voorsien moet word asseblief  en reeds oorlede is

Geen lewendige profiele sal getel word nie.   

Die "unconected" lys is slegs om die spanlede te ondersteun indien hulle wonder watter familie in hul stamlyn kort nog familie lede, maar niemand is beperk tot daardie lys nie.

Ek is besig om Duitse voorouers van die Brümmer te versamel uit die kerkboeke van die dorpie Menslage. Ek doen dit in die 'Gramps' program, wat gedcom kan exporteer, en wat ek dan weer kan importeer naar WikiTree.

Het julle tips hoe om dit maklikste te maak?  Ek sou graag ook die verbindings in die boom saam kopieer, maar sien nie hoe dit kan werk die.

Ek praat onder korreksie, maar ek dink nie Gedcom gaan werk vir die Source a Thon nie. Ek het iewers gelees daar is 'n wagtydperk,-  as dit is wat jy beoog het.

Ek self, nadat ek die negatiewe relaas oor Gedcom invoere gelees het, besluit om elke profiel  direk op WikiTree in te sleutel en het dus baie min kennis rondom Gedcoms  .  

Hoop iemand met meer kennis sal hierop antwoord.

Hierdie Gedcom met mense uit die dorp Menslage in 18e/19e eeuw het nou 75 mense, waarvan 'n klein aantal al in WikiTree te vinde is.  Vir my is die gedcom ding ook nut, maar dit klink naar die manier om vinnig 70 nuwe connecties in te voeg. Hulle is almal gedocumenteer uit die Menslage kerkboeke.

Nog 'n ding: slawe, sonder familie verbindings, maar wat duidelijk deur hulle situasie verbonde is met die eienaars (ook al is dit 'n negatiewe soort verbinding).

My voorouder Thomas Heatlie-39 het moontlik twee van die laaste slawe uit Mauritius naar die Kaap gebring. Sy 'ekskuus' was dat dit twee persoonlike huisslawe was, wat 'natuurlik' met hom kon saamreis.  Dit was ongeveer in 1813, en een van die twee, met die naam Moya, afkomstig uit Mosambiek, het by die familie bly werk (.. in latijn beteken 'famulus' slaaf of dienaar, sodat 'familia' almal in die huishouding was), en het nog gelewe tot in die 20e eeuw zodat my oupa hom nog as kind herinner het.

Ek het hom nou genoem in die store by Thomas Heatlie, maar eintlik sou sulke mense ook in WikiTree 'n eie plek moet kan kry.

Daar is die 'first fifty years' projek, waar slawe, ex-slawe, gevangenes, first-nation khoisan.  Vir die meeste van hulle is daar geen (bekende gedocumenteerde) verbinding met die groot WikiTree boom nie.

Ronel or anyone can you help me please,

I create a new profile but I have to insert the == Biography == and == Sources ==

When I create a new profile the profile gets created without the Biography and sources headers am I doing something wrong or is this the new way to do this?

I cant understand why as the sources header is required to show sources.

Mine is working fine as it should. I have no explanation Those headers  are created by default - not something you can control

Something I have  notice for a while yesterday ..... all the duplicates that show up when crating profiles are from other countries even when it is a well known SA surname.

Maybe we are working the the poor servers to hard :-))

Are you using the advanced setting, or the vanilla interface?

I am not sure but it looks like Im using advanced as I do not have to fill out a form to create a new profile.

My process is:

Find the profile info to add on family search.

Use WikitreeX to create the profile - mother of or father of

The profile is created without the biography, sources or ref tag.

I have copied these into Ditto and am adding them every time but its an extra step.

To all our team members thank you for taking time to enhance our tree. Remember, even if you only did a few profiles, you made a difference and your efforts are  appreciated!!

 The participation was global, so our mighty tree grew in many directions. with an amazing 76,995 new profiles which increases the chance that each of us will connect a little closer.
