Parents are in plain sight on his death certificate

Question

His  parents  are  listed  on  the  death certificate, but  I  am  unable  to  find  any records for  either  of  them. I  am  trying  to  assist  a  relative find  more  info.Thanks

The names of the parents on the death certificate may not be correct, as the informant was the hospital registrar.

This probably does not apply to this person but I just learned recently not to even trust that the name of the informant is correct.  My children's step-sister passed away in December. Both of my daughters are nurses and one knows the coroner.  They were the informants but were shocked when they obtained the death certificate and their sisters' mother was listed as the informant.  No one, including the coroner, talked to her mother. They supplied her mother's name to the coroner, but as I said, he didn't speak to her mother.

I  do  see  that and  wonder  where  that  info  on  the  death  certificate  came. as it  does  not  list  a  wife  who  might haved  had more  knowledge. He  had  been  in  hosp for  two  months  prior  to  death, so  perhaps  they  knew him well. Maxwell's  son  for  whom  I am  researching, does  not  seem  to  know a  lot. (He  was  14 at  the  time  of  death) His  mother  died in 1982, so  probably did  not  even  think about the  genealogy of  the  family untill  later, then no  one  to  ask?

Hi Hart,

Start by cleaning up the profile. You can do this manually or use the AGC or Wikitree browser extension. More info on that on the app page listed under the Find drop down menu.

Then build the biography with sources starting with the death certificate info. Then look for other info for this family such as census records. Once you get that done, come back here to the forum and ask for assistance. When you do, be sure to add surname and location tags. This will get the attention of members with experience in those areas.

I  am  not  the  profile  mgr, but  I  can  try  to clean  it up a  bit, I  did pvt  message  her  a  few  days  ago  but  have not  had  a  response.  There  is  something not quite  right about  the death  certificate, it  does  not  seem  complete, it  lists no wife, were  they  estranged, the  son  was  14. According  to  the  obit, Maxwell  had  been ill  for  about  2  months. The  wife  and  son  were  listed  in  the  obit. The  son whom I  just  met does  not  seem  to  have  a  lot  of  info  about  his  father,states  he  went  to Knox  County  but    foun no  birth record etc. for  his  father. I offered  to  help.  Thanks  you  for  your  input

Max's WWII draft registration states he was born near Cleveland, TN. Cleveland is in Bradley county. Surrounding counties are Hamilton, Meigs, McMinn, and Polk.

The draft registration also states the person who would always know his address was Carl E. Janes. Carl was his brother-in-law (Carl married a sister of Max's wife).

Yes  I  did  see  that  on  the registration and  then  checked  the  census for  that  period.

Update I  have  done  extensive  research, called the funeral home, they  still  have  records,( but no  answers) spoke  with  Bradley  Co, Tenn, State of  Tenn  Library, the  Baptist  church of  the  pastor  who  conducted  services. I  contacted  Knox Co where I  was  told  held  the  records  for Bradley, they  were  less  than helpful, stating  that  they  could  not  give out  a persons  information. There  is  no delayed  birth certificate perhaps  he  had  not  reached the  age  for  SS. I plan  to  contact  the  chamber  of  Commerce  who  employed Maxwell and  the time  of  his  death I  still  cannot  find records  for  his  parents, but  still  searching.
