pre-WW1 CMF units in Australia

Good evening,

I have been working on the profile of a young soldier who died of wounds incurred in the Gallipoli campaign in 1915. I've realised that his AIF enlistment and circular papers show that he had 1 1/2 years experience in the 24th Light Horse regiment of the Citizens Military Force (CMF). I can not find a relevant category, or even a close one to copy from.

Wikipedia has an article for the 23rd Light Horse Regiment which was based in the mid north and Barossa.areas of South Australia.  Australian Light Horse says the 24th was (Flinders), consistent with the home of Clarence Davidson.

Could I please have some help with categories for Clarence's pre-war experience? He was promoted to Corporal fairly quickly, so I'm guessing the experience was valuable.

If I've missed any other categories, I'm happy to add them too (troopship, campaign, ...)?

Thank you,

   Scott

Great work on the profile, Scott. I've created the relevant Category and added Clarence to it.  I've also linked a few more sources, added some Categories and made a couple of additions. If they're unsuitable, please feel free to delete them. Regards, Ken.  BTW, the Wikipedia article on the 23rd LHR is incorrect in calling it a Citizens Military Force unit.  CMF did not stand for Citizens until after the First World War.  Beforehand, it was Commonwealth (and before that Colonial Military Forces).

Thank you Kenneth. I'll review and make a few more minor changes tonight, but on the whole your changes are all improvements.

Thank you for the great explanation at the new [[:Category:24th_(Flinders)_Light_Horse_Regiment,_Australian_Commonwealth_Military_Forces]]. I think I can find more profiles to add to it, too.
