I knew Angus Angus, or R. Angus which became Finning.  It was Caterpillar Deutz.  Renata Angus, the wife of Angus Angus is why it was called R. Angus.  They lived in Emerald Lake in Jasper National Park, which is a Canadian Public National Park and protected.  I believe Renate is still alive and living somewhere south of Elk Island National Park by Lamont in Alberta, Canada.  What about Hoeing?

My grandfather MacDonald was born in Cnoc a'Lin (Knockline) in 1862, but there is no Angus appearing in his branch that meets your parameters.

I have written another MacDonald who still lives in Cnoc a'Lin, who is (sort of) not related, and an avid genealogist. He might come up with something. If he does I'll forward it.

As an addendum, a search of Scotlands People under official births shows two Angus MacDonalds born in 1874 on North Uist. You will have to pay a nominal amount for the online registers, which will give you the date and place of birth and the names of the parents (maiden surname for the mother).

Cheers,

John

I turns out that this is my grand father's branch.

I have located a page of the the Cnoc a'Lin croft book. Send me your email and I will forward it to you as an attachment.

A couple/few points of difference:

1. His mother was Margaret (nee) MacDonald (rather than MacAulay), the first of three wives of Archie MacDonald.

2. It looks like he was born in 1871. Scotland's People have three Angus MacDonalds born on North Uist that year. He later went to Rhodesia.

3. He married Lillian Norman.

If you get any further information on Angus I would like to get copies. Angus' grandfather, Norman MacDonald, was my great-great-grandfather.

I look forward to hearing from you and hope this helps.

All the best,

John MacDonald

Is this Archibald related?

Born on North Uist in 1838, son or grandson of Angus Macdonald, a miller.
