Horace Amanda Green (abt. 1849 - 1912)

Hi Wikitree family,

We need collaboration in adding his remaining two daughters which are mentioned in his obituary as a Mrs. Eugene Harvey and Miss Margaret Greene. I’d like to at least find their burial locations dates of birth/death. Maybe just maybe we can connect this Green branch to the main Wikitree

Hi,

I found an Ethel Harvey living in that area married to a Eugene Harvey. She was born in New York but her age keeps changing from census to census. Ranges from 1875-1884. By 1920 census she had four children, found marriage licenses for two of the children. Nathaniel's mom is listed as Ethel H. Green. There is a Hazel Olive Harvey who listed mom as Ethel Greene.

I found record relating to the marriage: Ernest Eugene Harvey and Ethel Green both of St. Regis Falls. According to Ancestry index the date of marriage was Jun 21, 1904, in Ontario, Canada. County of Stormont. Not seeing a marriage date on actual index, odd? She claims she was 23, making birth about 1881. Her parents are listed as Horace Green and Mary Cortie.

She married after all!! After the tragedy of the parents passing fairly young in life this is wonderful maybe we can get an obit now and her memorial identified.

The last name Lamontagne could be another family member's married name. Zelia, what an interesting first name!

There is an issue with the images in the database that affects this marriage registration.  This marriage appears in the register on a register page numbered 507.  If we examine the previous two pages we see that page 505 lists parties to marriages along with their ages, birthplaces, residences and parents.  Page 506 lists witnesses to these marriages and gives dates and locations of the marriages.  The marriages listed on page 506 occurred between 21 April and 14 June, 1904, mostly occurring in the town of Cornwall.  Unfortunately, in place of page 508, which would have given witnesses and dates for the marriage of interest, there is only another image of page 507.  After this duplicate, there are images of pages 513 and 514 in the register.  The dates for the first two marriages on page 514 are 27 and 28 Sept 1904.

So, I think that the suggested date in the index came from these other marriages.

The four children listed in the 1920 census include Ida M. Harvey (19).  However, in the 1910 census, Ida is listed as Ida Gilman (8) step-daughter.

A William Gilman occurs in the NY marriage index, marrying Ethyl A. Greens on 27 June 1899 in St. Regis Falls.

William and Ethyl were living in Waverly in 1900.

Ida Gilman married Flloyd Badger in Brushtron in 1917.  So, the Ida Badger who the obituary says cared for him was actually his step-daughter.
