How do we go about getting a profile orphaned?

So during the SourceAThon I ran into this profile [[Miskevich-1|Olga Irene (Miskevich) Bowen (1907-abt.1984)]]

So this profile is locked and Unsourced. Lots of People have added sources in the comments.

The Manager [[Berner-26|Mark Berner]] does not appear to have been active since 2014.

I think there should be a way to automatically Orphan Profiles when a manager has been inactive? Or at least have a group or someone we can take it to for determination?

There's a procedure....first place a comment on the profile. Then ask to be added to the trusted list and send a message to the PM. If you don't get a response in 7 days, you can file a UPM - Unresponsive Profile Manager request. You'll find this in the Genealogy tools section of every profile. This will take a day or two, and then the profile will be orphaned. We do this all the time working on Unknown profiles. It seems like a hassle, but it protects everyone and assures that the PM really isn't active or paying attention, no matter what their contribution feed says.

Thanks Pam,

It just seems to me that if a Profile makes the "Unsourced" list it should automaticly get unlocked otherwise no one can add sources.

Somebody else has asked to be added to the trusted list so I will let them follow up on it. But good information to know.

Thanks again.
Hmm, I see five messages on the profile dating back to 2018, and three of those request the profile be unlocked, but I don't see that anyone has requested to be added to the trusted list or to become a profile manager. Is there a way to tell if another person made such an actual request?
No. But if you have info to contribute, you should make the request, update the profile and then, if it isn't a relative, you can orphan the improved profile again.
The formal procedure is documented at https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Help:Unresponsive_Profile_Managers .

Follow that procedure; it works!

This is not about getting a profile orphaned, which is controversial since no one has a minimum required amount of contribution to the site, but,

  • Profiles of people born over 150 years ago or who died over 100 years ago must be Open.

Hey Lucy,

Unfortunatly this profile does not meet either of those criterion. She was born in 1907 and died in 1984.

Thanks for the input.
It doesn't look like that PM has been active here for years. Someone posted a message on his page, so hopefully he will answer and open the profile.

This profile has been opened now, if anyone wants to add more sources. I have already added the sources listed in the messages section.
