Probable conflation of Thomas Grubbe of Potterne, Wiltshire and of Stoke Climsland, Cornwall

This current profile conflates two Thomas Grubbes who lived around the same time, one in Porterne, Wiltshire and the other in Stoke Climsland, Cornwall. The link to the will of the Potterne Thomas has been posted on the Grubbe-24 profile, and I will be transcribing this today.

The current Grubbe-24 profile will remain as the Potterne Thomas. A new one will be created for the Stoke Climsland Thomas (if he is shown to exist and does not already have a duplicate on WikiTree) and will be PPP'd by the England Project to prevent future merging back into the Potterne Thomas.

Any help with gathering evidence for the proper construction of the two families most gratefully welcomed.

Jo, England Project Managed Profiles Team

Edit 21 August: corrected spelling of Potterne!

Update - the will of "Thomas Grubbe of Potterne, Wiltshire" (proved 1618) has been transcribed here.

It provides very good evidence for this Thomas Grubb having a wife Susan, and five children (John, Thomas the Elder, Henry, Thomas the Younger, Susan) all alive at the time of his death.

The members of the Grubb family of Stoke Climsland have been disconnected. A suitable Thomas Grubb profile to become the  Thomas Grubb of Stoke Climsland has already been discovered as a duplicate on WikiTree.

Thanks to Lois Tilton, Gill Whitehouse, Elizabeth Viney and Ann Browning for wholeheartedly getting stuck into this conflation.

The will of 1616 might be for a Thomas Grubb, Yeoman of St Dominick, Cornwall, but there is a will of a Thomas Grubb, Yeoman of Kelly Bray, Stoke Climsland, dated 1628.  This is according to the Kresen Kernow Archives Catalogue.  Also the 1628 will is indexed in the Cornwall OPC Database
