WikiTree Sourcer Update

It is almost a year since I released the first beta version of the WikiTree Sourcer browser extension. I first announced the extension here on G2G on October last year. Since then it has had hundreds of improvements. Here are a list of some of the newer or more interesting improvements that you may not be aware of:

  • You can now search WikiTree (using people search or WikiTree+) from any supported site.
  • You can now perform searches from family tree people pages (not just record pages) on FamilySearch, Ancestry and FindMyPast. You can also search for these people pages from other records/sites.
  • There are new options for formatting citations that make them more like Evidence Explained guidelines.
  • For census records you can generate a household “table” that can now be either a table, a list, or a sentence.
  • The extension now works in nearly all browsers and on nearly all platforms (for example it works in Safari on iPad and in the Kiwi browser on Android tablets).
  • New sites are supported. The full list of sites supported is now:
    •   FamilySearch
    •   Ancestry
    •   FindMyPast
    •   Find-A-Grave
    •   GRO (UK)
    •   FreeBMD (UK)
    •   FreeReg (UK)
    •   FreeCen (UK)
    •   Scotlands People
    •   WikiTree

I have a free space page with requested enhancements to the extension here. If you have requests please feel free to add comments to that page.

I have been working on adding profiles for my new One Place Study. Today I  have at least one profile for each household in the 1911 census except the widowed women living alone.

I would have not been able to do this as quickly if it was not for Rob's app. I am now using it to build the families and help to connect households. I have so far connected at least 2 possibly more. The real test will be with the Hughes, Jones, Roberts and Williams households.

Hello Rob, this app is just magnificent. May I suggest (to draw more international / German researchers into the mix), that you consider adding catholic Matricula church books from https://data.matricula-online.eu/de/bestande/ and the Lutheran churchbooks from Archion.de?

Thanks for your consideration!

Thank you so much, Rob! As others have said, I use WikiTree Sourcer every day! I see on the free space page that Newspapers.com is on the wishlist. I would use the heck out of that! Thanks again for all the time and hard work you've put into this app. It makes sourcing profiles a joy.

An absolutely invaluable app, as others have said. I would be so much slower without it (and the citations wouldn't look as nice!). Thank you Rob.
