Seeking descendants of Hants County, Nova Scotia John Ross late 1700s

In 1772, my 4th g grandfather John Ross (Ross-11860) was granted 600 acres on the Windsor - Halifax Road in present-day West Hants.  He had four sons - James and William, born in Ireland, and Edmund and David, born in Hants.  By the early 1800s, these sons all eventually relocated to the North East Margaree Valley in Inverness County.  They were the only children we knew of.  BUT, a recently discovered letter written in 1897 by my great grandfather, indicates there was a 5th son, named John, who remained in Hants and was lost track of.  There was also a reference to a daughter who married a "Mr. Hooper" and lived in Nova Scotia.  I am seeking possible descendants of these two children, with the hope that DNA may confirm a relationship.

Not what you asked, but there was a John Ross, head of a family of 5, less than 50 years old, living in Windsor in 1817:

And a John Ross of Windsor died ~1820 intestate, his estate papers begin here:

The administrator was a Job Ross, probably a son? I haven't read through... And I have no idea if these are the same guy, let alone if they are your guy - that seems a pretty common name.

Matthew, thank you for your response and the effort you put into finding the sources you did. As you noted, you didn’t directly answer my question but you did help by making me consider other possible options.

In the estate record you found, Job Ross is probably the father but might be the brother of the John Ross who died. There was a Job Ross, who said he was born in Belfast, Ireland in 1757, who lived in Windsor. I’m annoyed with myself as I write this because I can’t find the file with that family’s information, and I’m going by memory, which tells me there were sons John and Job in that family. Since the estate papers were being handled by Job, I’ll conclude that the deceased John was from that family.

You have me wondering if my great grandfather was mistaken in believing the name of the Ross brother, who remained in Hants and didn’t move to Margaree with the other sons, was John, when it might have been Job. Since my ancestor (James) and one of the other brothers were born in Ireland, maybe I also need to be looking for Job’s present-day descendants for possible DNA comparisons.

Interesting. The WikiTree relationship finder tells me that you and I are 8th cousins, twice removed, and we have 94 other common ancestors. Thank you for your help, Cousin.

I'm working on the Ross family from Windsor, Nova Scotia possibly our lines connect.
I have a Mary Ross born about 1790, she married Elijah Crowell. Mary died on 19 November 1872 in Three Mile Plains, Hants, Nova Scotia. On her death record, it lists her as born in Windsor, NS and her parents as John and Mary Ross.

Her death record: https://archives.novascotia.ca/vital-statistics/death/?ID=31816
