Can anyone SOURCE my mother??

Question

This is a brick wall of mine for years.

Can anyone SOURCE the full name / any info for Amanda Smith who married James Mills?

I descend from Annie Dunlap Smith who married John James Holman. Her death cert lists mom as" ___ Mathews" but that's the only source I have for a mom's information.

Kate, their sister, has "unknown" for her mom's information on her death certificate.

There are a fair number of sources linked to this family on family search, but it is going to take some sleuthing to straighten up what looks like a confusing tangle.

My best guess is that James Smith's wife # 1 (Elizabeth Matthews) died slightly later than is shown (and born earlier) but still before 1850 and the "Mary E" on the 1850 census was actually the oldest daughter, not a second wife. But that's just a guess at this point.
