I would like to share an incredible letter I found listed for sale on Etsy by seller sallys4025. This is photo 1 of 3 of Wilhelmine Miether's letter to a likely 12-year-old Martha Roof (G98S-1KV on FamilySearch, not added on ), thanking her for her donation of shoes. She found Martha's name and address inside the shoes after finding them at a distribution center, of which she wrote, "I needed the shoes badly and I thank you very heartily for your help." She then continued by sharing her tragic story of loss and survival in the war. Original letter in German, translated to English in pencil by a multilingual college professor, later forgotten for many years tucked away inside a book. Location of writer: Siegen, Westf., Bleichweg 6, Germany. Date: 31 Aug 1947. Location of receiver: Delaware, Ohio. The letter is for sale on Etsy if you are interested.
Help with researching and editing profile is welcome. I have typed up most of the letter into her bio.
