Question

Mona Gertrude (Johnson) Byers travelled to Goteborg Sweden on the SS Gripsholm with her husband Charles E Byers departure date 3 May 1938. They planned on establishing a cosmetic business with another couple.

Due to the impending war they departed via Oslo Norway on the MS Oslofjord arriving in New York 13 Oct 1939. Im unsure why they departed via Norway but it was an urgent departure. Could have been to Sweden Blockades perhaps.

Im wondering is it possible to locate business residence details whilst they were in Sweden.

I looked for them in the ArkivDigital population index 1800-1947 without finding them. In my experience the volumes after, say, 1920 may be scanned but not yet indexed. Göteborg is too big to just browse for their residence. As for business data I just have no idea.

You could try mailing the National Archives. The county archive in Gothenburg has its own webpage https://riksarkivet.se/archives-in-gothenburg - however the email address provided there seems to be general, so make sure to be clear about your interest being in Göteborg.
