Hello, I am interested in learning more about my mother's family.  The family name is Grubbs and the tradition, as I learned it, was that my 5 times great grandmother was the sister of Francis Marion.  Indeed, the name Marion (or Maryan) shows up in almost every generation. I have not seen information about Francis Marion's siblings and wondered...

You can use the search box at the top of your profile to search for your family. If you search by surname alone you will get a page like this:

This search feature can also be used to search for individual names or use the wild card * in the first name field to search for anyone with that surname. Then narrow your results by date or location.

Welcome to WikiTree, Laura! Francis Marion apparently only had one sister, Esther (Marion) Mitchell. It appears that her descendants do not all have WikiTree profiles yet, so it could take you a bit of research and profile creation to establish the connection, but I'm sure it will be interesting and enjoyable for you. My husband's name is Marion. He was named after his grandfather, Francis Marion Mobley. No relation to Francis Marion, the "Swamp Fox." "Francis Marion" is such a common name in South Carolina because the "Swamp Fox" was such a hero. I hope you find your relationship to the sister.
