They are listed on the Library of Congress website; I don't see any way to look at them on the website, they are also mentioned in a 1989 Genealogy Magazine but I have not been able to find them anywhere. Possibly published 1989 by WSC enterprises, Bethesda, Maryland.

Our cousins: some descendants of Thomas Carley of County Wexford, Ireland, in the eighteenth century by William Sutton Carley

Our cousins: some descendants of Walter Carley and his wife, Miss Brown, of County Wexford, Ireland in the eighteenth century by William Sutton (Carley)

Any suggestions would be marvellous.

They aren't on Archive.org, or Jstor or HathiTrust, I have checked all Canadian online sources as well, I had hoped I might find the books on a Canadian source as the family migrated from Ireland to Ontario.

Do you have evidence that these are truly worthwhile sources?

WorldCat told me (https://www.worldcat.org/title/our-cousins-some-descendents-of-thomas-carley-of-county-wexford-ireland-in-the-eighteenth-century/oclc/23017047) that the Thomas Carley book is in only 5 libraries worldwide, and it showed me only 3 of those libraries.

Thanks Ellen; No, as I have not been able to view the books, I have no evidence that they are accurate, worthwhile or worth the paper they are written on.

However there is a reasonable possibility that Thomas Carley was the father of Walter Carley and his wife Miss unknown first name Brown, as shown in the description of 2nd book I would like to find.

Walter Carley is the probable father of Joseph Carley 1772 - 1865, my DH's 4 X GGF. The family history is well documented from Joseph Carley to my MIL, even though his profile on WT is not properly sourced. There are children and grandchildren named both Thomas and Walter.

The Carley family are an early pioneer family arriving in southern Ontario from Ireland in 1831 with 11 children and far too many descendants. They are well known in various parts of southern Ontario.

I have previously found additional information from local museums and history groups in the Merrickville, Ontario area. It is unlikely that there will be more information available. My hope was that there could be some useful tidbits in one of the books that would allow me to track the family further back in county Wexford, Ireland.
Might this be of assistance:  https://carleyweb.tripod.com/history.htm

Do not give up search County Wexford  the date and name of people and see if you can find any irish information for the locale they came from.  If you know their religion the catholic records are on line for free unsearchable copies of originals or searchable transcribed.  As far back as the parish goes.  However history of the area often mentions families.

This gives a parish/location but needs to be confirmed or researched but it maybe a start  https://www.genealogy.com/ftm/c/a/r/Edward-L-Carley/WEBSITE-0001/UHP-0273.html

You may already have this?  https://www.genealogy.com/ftm/c/a/r/Edward-L-Carley/WEBSITE-0001/UHP-0273.html

These are some of the Carley's living in Wexford, I believe the parish you are looking for is Kullerin during Griffith's Valuation, https://www.askaboutireland.ie/griffith-valuation/index.xml?action=doNameSearch&Submit.x=37&Submit.y=9&familyname=carley&firstname=First+Name&baronyname=&countyname=WEXFORD&unionname=&parishname=

Perhaps some sources here, well known website: https://www.johngrenham.com/c_parish/c_parish_main.php?CountyMap=&civilparishid=2580&surname=Carley&county=Wexford&civilparish=Killurin

Tithe Applotment records 1823 - 1833 showing any Carley's who were working land in the area and paid tithes to the Church of Ireland - everyone of every religion paid tithes to the Church of Ireland http://titheapplotmentbooks.nationalarchives.ie/search/tab/results.jsp?surname=carley&firstname=&county=Wexford&parish=&townland=&search=Search

Keep looking there is also a Carley's Pottery dating back to the 1600;s in the area.    Good Luck
Thanks again Lynn

Yes I have seen all of those sources. In the past 10 years I have explored I think every possible source for the Carley family and contacted every person who has contributed information about them on a multitude of genealogy related websites, that is why I hoped that if I could find those books and perhaps find something of value.

I have also researched any records I could find from County Wexford, contacted many Irish family history groups including a county Wexford specialist. The information may just not be available, sometimes that's just the way it is.
I have added a few more after sending the first message.  There are people in the area with the name Carley, especially at the Carley Bridge Cottage - bed and breakfast or the historical society there or if you can contact the church and see if they will do a look up of the records for you , with a donation of course.  I do not know how far their parish goes back, I know that it changed names at some point but it may go back to the time you are looking for, they will also have the parish notes which documents when people left the parish and sometimes to where like saying America or died or withdrew or were transferred to another parish.

There is also Carley Bridge Potteries who have their history documented.

You might also consider the newspapers who sometimes date quite early.

Here are some of my favorite resources for online books:

Free libraries/ books: Great for finding family history books and county histories. You may have to create account to check out certain books.

Internet Archive - https://archive.org - after entering your search term select Search text contents.

Google books: https://books.google.com/

JSTOR - https://www.jstor.org/ - you need an account for this website. It is only 100 check outs a year.

HathiTrust Digital Library - https://www.hathitrust.org/

I have been unable to find them online however one can get them at libraries or Worldcat will list libraries that have copies.  https://acpl.lib.in.us/wise-apps/catalog/6000/code/1684472080

Thanks, I did look at the World Cat listing, the Allen County, Indiana library does list them, however it does not appear that they can be accessed on line, and as I am in Ontario, Canada, I am not able to visit the library or get a library card.
You might check with your local library and see what they suggest or see who the publisher is and see if they can refer you to any in print or perhaps there is a family genealogy group for this person who may have some copies or be able to scan them to you. .
