Kathleen Merchant is first cousin to my late husband, Barry Daniel Clardy. Her father, Hobert Perry Butler, was brother to Barry's mother, Bernice Lucille Butler Clardy. I would like to thank Kathleen for providing me considerable help in my family research, as I have copied several historical documents she has accumulated over the years, particularly newspaper clippings she had acquired of recognitions her father had received throughout his many years of public service in the Democrat Party of the State of Indiana and Washington D.C. On a personal note, she holds quite a resemblance to her grandmother (Perry's mother), Ora Ethel Pryor Butler. I'm sorry that our paths have never crossed and we have never had a chance to meet. It seems that, like her father, she too has an extensive history in public service and active involvement in the Democratic Party. Thanks again!
