Citations from FreeREG now available.

Question

That indispensable resource for English Parish Register transcriptions has been enhanced to provide citations in a number of formats, one of which is WikiTree.

FreeREG, FreeBMD, and FreeCEN are free transcriptions of English Parish Registers, Civil Birth Marriage and Death Registrations and the English Census. Not everything has been transcribed and they are always looking for volunteers to help with the work.

I think Wikitree citations have been available for a while on FreeREG. I understand that eventually the same will be possible with FreeBMD, but it’s not there yet.

Yes, I have been using FreeREG citations on Wikitree since June 2019.

One of the best things about FreeReg (and there are soooo many great things) is that you can actually contact transcribers and get responses.  

Not to mention, at least they know the place names and record them accurately.  I love being able to name the parish church by its Saint in my files.

I'd like to recommend that anyone who can afford to, gives them a donation for their coffers.  Compared to many of the rubbish transcriptions we pay for with ancestry and myheritage (not quite so bad with find-my-past), it's worthwhile to fund them so they keep up the good work.
