Here’s the latest news from the Germany Project:
* Please consider joining the Germany Genies for WikiTree’s annual Source-a-Thon happening Friday-Monday, October 1-4. Post an answer on the G2G join post HERE and ask to be added to the Germany Genies. More info is available on the team page. During the July Connect-a-thon, the Genies added 2,447 new profiles to the tree, coming in 12th place overall (out of 27 Teams) and finishing in 3rd place using the normalized (average) score. Very impressive work from a small but mighty team of 8!
* A big thank you to project member Friedemann Kiedaisch, who has added/expanded the profiles for all the German Presidents, living and deceased. The Germany Project now manages all the president profiles and has added and opened the profiles of quite a few more Living Notables. If you’re interested, a list of ALL the project’s managed profiles can be seen HERE.
* Is there any interest in adding a new Team dedicated to tracking German immigrants to Brazil? It seems that we might have several members interested in collaborating on that subject.
* Since our last newsletter, Dieter posted some news from Archion HERE and HERE. And Steve Thomas added a new page: Herder, Immigrant Voyage to South Australia, 1851. Thanks to you both!
* WikiTree rolled out the “My Connections” feature and the Help:My Connections page was translated into German (Thanks Dieter!) We also have a new category: Germany, Featured Connections. This category holds the profiles of our highest viewed and most notable German profiles. On the category page, go to the top right corner and click "My Connections", and you can see if you’re related or connected to any of the Germans in this category. If the person is directly related to you, it will be noted with “ancestor” next to the person's name.
* We have an update on STICKERS!! (see ALL our project stickers HERE)

We have a brand new Black Sea Germans sticker! This can be used on profiles of people who were born in or lived in the Black Sea German Colonies. There is also coding available for a Black Sea German descendant sticker (using the non-migrating ancestor template). Examples of both of these stickers and copy/pastable coding is available HERE. Note that for now, categories are NOT attached to this sticker, but you can/should add appropriate colony subcategories to your profiles. See THIS PAGE for the BSG colony subcategories.

As a question was raised about this sticker’s use, the Volga German sticker template information page has been clarified to read: “This sticker can be placed on the profiles of people who were born in or lived in the Volga German Colonies”. Coding similar to the Black Sea Germans descendant sticker is available for descendants of Volga Germans as well: HERE. Like the BSG sticker, colony subcategories are not attached to the sticker, but they can/should be added from the VG colony subcategory list HERE.

The German Roots Sticker is also undergoing some changes and I will post when that work has been completed. The Germany Project has been keeping the Templates Project very busy! Thanks Steven!
* Our five Profile Improvement Teams are still looking for project members to join us. We have teams set up for Managed Profiles, Data Doctors, Sourcerers, Connectors and Arborists. See the Team pages for more details.
* The German territorial structure in the course of history pages are still a work-in-progress and Dieter is currently hard at work on pre-1806 location history. This is a huge undertaking and we are so very grateful for all Dieter’s hard work on this project!
