Thank you for the invitation to join the German/Prussia Project,

I have a two fold interest:  One, my paternal German Heritage and 2nd, my Maternal German/Prussian ancestry.

Contributions - To share what I have researched for the past 46 years in family genealogy.

Yes, I would like to participate in the German project. My Great Grandfather was John Ehlers Diederich Wohlers apparently born in 1846 in Assandorf, Hannover. I think that is in Emsland. He went to London UK and married in 1870, then to New Zealand.

I know little else about him or his family and I would like to know more.

Hi Traci,

My Prussian ancestors came to Australia prior to 1900.  They came from the area known as Silesia, now in Poland. I have engaged a Polish genealogist who has found quite a bit of information about the family. Most went to the Minnesota area in USA, and the rest came to South Australia, and fannned out from there. My great grandparents ended up in Narrogin Western Australia. They were Paul Richard Oscar John (born in Prussia) and Maria Groch.

I would like to join the Germany project. My focus would be Prussia.

I will need guidance about how best to participate.

Hi Shelley,

My wife was born in Narrogin. I'll look for your German family history.
Hi Shelley,
I don't know if you've seen this but there are a few profiles built for members of the John family that emigrated from the kreis of Liegnitz, for example [[John-1966|Traugott Benjamin John (1823-1889)]].

My thought is that it's good if you create profiles inside Wikitree for all the ancestors that you have found. At some point I'd expect that you'll find another Wikitree user with a common ancestor.

I agree that Kylie and Traci are doing a great job.
When we talk about Prussia I feel that I am dancing around egg shells. There are so many ways to get it wrong.

Thanks Maggie, it means a lot for you to say that.

And Steve, just say it, that's what I do. Always good to get the discussion started in the very least smiley
