British Newspaper Archive has made some of their papers free to view

The BNA is now giving free viewing of a million pages of their British and Caribbean papers, mostly from the 19th century. They plan to make more available in subsequent years.

The archive is digitising the British Library's extensive collection of newspapers and using Optical Character Recognition (OCR) to make them searchable. The OCR does struggle with poorer quality print though.

Details of the papers and how to restrict searches to free to view pages can be found here

The archive itself can be found at https://www.britishnewspaperarchive.co.uk/
