Need clarification on parents of Jane (Pearson) Gillespy.

I need clarification on the parents for my 4th great-grandmother Jane Gillespy nee Pearson born 1726 died 1774 married to Archibald Gillespy in Clumberland, England. Archibald and she were members of the Society of Friends in Clumberland. Ancestry suggests her father may have been Richard Pearson/Perrson and Ann Wilkerson but Familysearch has her parents as John Pearson and Elizabeth.  Thank in advance.

Here is the Ancestry link to the proposed father for Jane Pearson. http://www.ancestry.com/discoveryui-content/view/58166041:9841?tid=77826622&pid=34373587382&hid=1023446906011

It would be easier if you provided links to your sources for the name Pearson.

Familysearch has a record for a Jane Pearson who married Archibald "Glassby" in Holm Cultram, Cumberland on 7 June 1750. https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:V5VW-DR7. This could be the same person, with a mistranscription of her spouse's name. But I would want more confirmation.

A Quaker birth record for Archibald Gillespy's daughter Ann gives Ann a birth date of 10 October 1750 - see Ann's profile, https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Gillespy-48. That makes me hesitate quite a bit about concluding that the 1750 marriage record on Familysearch is for him. Ann's profile gives a link to an image of a record of his children's births, but these do not name the mother of Archibald's children.

Thanks.  It helps to know where your research trail has already led.

I see that one of the children listed as born to Jane and Archibald was named Richard. That's suggestive support for Richard as her father.
Familysearch shows an Anne Peirson born in Isel to a John Peirson in 1725, but apparently not a Jane born the next year.

FS also shows a Richard Pearson fathering a Jane in 1724 at Hayton, Cumberland.

FindmyPast also shows the Richard Pearson father of Jane in 1724 as well as the 1750 marriage.
But these internet sites don't show actual records, so it's not possible to have confidence in either alternative.

The source image on Findmypast is quite clear: Jane Gillesby, wife of William Gillesby, was born on 28 January 1726. Dates also for children Archibald and Abigail are visible.

Please note 1726 year starts in Jan and ends in Dec in Scotland and starts in Apr and ends in Mar in England.

FindMyPast has just had an unhelpful makeover, and I haven’t figured out how to copy a resolvable link on my phone. I just used search terms: England, Baptisms, Jane, Gillesby, 1726. 1 result.  HTH Chris
Sorry, but I can't find anything like that there, and I doubt that Jane would have been baptized under the name Gillespy, so I have a hard time with that information.
It is the Quaker birth record of her husband and his sister, and incidentally records her birth date. Try searching then on Abigaill (1722) or Archibald Gillesby (1724)
Archibald's death record has HIS birthdate ...

FMP also has Jane's death record, but it doesn't have her birthdate

Chris, I am afraid you have either misread the record you have found, or made a mistake in setting out what you found. It is a Quaker record for a "Gillesby" family on FindMyPast at https://www.findmypast.co.uk/transcript?id=TNA%2FRG6%2FBAP%2F1689819. The image reads "Archibald son of William and Jane Gillesby was born … 17 of June 1724. Jane his wife was born 28 January 1726. Abigaill daughter of William and Jane Gillesby was born 3 of March 1722." Clearly the Abigaill mentioned was a sister of Archibald. There is no mention in this record of any children of Archibald and his wife Jane. There is nothing in this record to indicate the last name at birth of his wife Jane. So, to spell out the obvious, what this record gives us is the following

William and Jane Gillesby, birth dates not given, had two children:

- Archibald, born 17 June 1724, who married Jane, last name at birth not stated, who was born on 28 January 1726

- Abigaill, born 3 March 1722

As I have already indicated, if - as seems clearly to have been the case - Archibald and his children were a Quaker family, I am not sure that a Jane Pearson who married Archibald "Glassby” on 7 June 1750 according to the transcript on Familysearch was the mother of Archibald Gillespy's oldest child Anne who was born on 10 October 1750 according to an image of a Quaker family record linked to on Anne's profile. The Quakers in the 18th century were not given to having marriages of someone who was pregnant, and there would almost certainly have been Quaker disciplinary action. The 1750 wedding may not have been a Quaker one, and it may be for a different couple.

I have found no record which confirms the last name at birth of Archibald Gillespy's wife.

Michael, I agree- I may have been sloppy in my descriptions and grammar and made a mistake. The WikiTree profiles that I created sometime ago reflect your accurate description above.
