Anyone interested in helping with Stebbins marriages in Springfield MA

Question

I am looking for help from anyone interested in the Stebbins family, Springfield Massachusetts. 

William Stebbins  and William Stebbins appear to be the same person and are the father of a Benjamin Stebbins (no profile yet) who married Margaret Root Daughter of Margaret Root 1747 at Westfield Massachusetts. The elder Margaret seems to have married a different Benjamin Stebbins before 1750 in Springfield Massachusetts, this Benjamin is currently attached to the younger Margaret as first husband. The Stebbins Genealogy page 179 is where I have started, to sort this out, but the deeper I look, the more Stebbins' relationships appear to be impacted.

Just spotted your post and pulled up on my offline tree. My own tree has Stebbins going back to Rowland Stebbins b 1592 and descendents include William Stebbins. I'd like to help.

Good to hear from you. Ultimately I want to determine who Margaret Root and her Daughter Margaret married, but first: From your direction do the two William's I pointed out here look like the same or different people?

I agree with the comments made above.   I have followed the Stebbins line for over 20 years.

The surnames: Chapin & Colton & Chaffee follow the Stebbins over the centuries to the mid-west.

There is extensive research online at the Stebbins family. And the Indian wars.

My Gr3 Aunt Harriet “ Hattie” Sutton from NY 1830’s removes to Dodge WI. Marries Arad Stebbins in Melrose, WI.  Abt 1870.

Colton’s appear again near here in Lowell, Dodge, WI.
