In a download on the profile of Marin Boucher called "LE RÉSEAU DU CANADA Étude du mode migratoire de la France vers Ir Nouvelle-France (1628-1462) " ( https://www.wikitree.com/photo/pdf/Boucher-94 ) Gaspard is referred to on several occasions as the brother of Marin Boucher. Why is he not included as a brother with Gaspard on your tree?

Taking a look at Carpin, he does indeed state that Gaspard and Marin are brothers.  Jetté for his part only states they are related, in unspecified manner.

Prefen file on the profile of Gaspard notes them as related, unspecified to what degree.  Fichier origine has no parents for Marin, and no mention of any relationship between the two men.

This is discussed on the profile of Gaspard's father Jacques Boucher: "Jacques Boucher may have been related to Marin Boucher and his sister Jeanne but the exact connection is unknown."

The note continues: "He was not Marin Boucher's father", but it seems to me that there is no proof in either direction.

Merci Julien, c'est ma conclusion aussi.  Aucune preuve, Carpin l'affirme, mais il faudrait voir les documents qui le lui font dire.

Claude Lambert pointed out this article to me: Denis Boucher, Gaspard et Marin, in Le fier passé (bulletin of the Association des Boucher d'Amérique), vol. 7, no. 2, Apr 2013, p. 7. The author studies a document where Marin Boucher testifies in a dispute between Gaspard Boucher and Thomas Giroust. It starts as follows:

Marin boucher [...] a dict cognoistre [...] le dict Gaspard boucher duquel il est parent.

(Marin Boucher declared that he knew Gaspard Boucher, of which he is a parent). The author concludes that they are related but not brothers, otherwise the legal text would have used the word frère instead of parent.

This is also discussed in Réjean Binet, Robert Giffard : les engagés de 1634, in L'Ancêtre, vol. 42, no. 313, winter 2016, p. 102.

of which he is a relative would be the correct translation, and as stated in the article, if they had been brothers the term frères would have been used.  Merci au cousin Claude.  Saves me having another pedigree collapse, since they are both my ancestors. laugh

The above is the relationship finder result between Marin and Gaspard, Marin's grandson Gervais Houde married Gaspard's sister Jeanne's granddaughter Marie Denevers.  I just looked at the marriage record between Gervais Houde and Marie Denevers, there is no mention whatsoever of a dispensation of any sort on the record.  If they had been second cousins, there would have had to be such.  Jeanne Boucher is known sister of Gaspard.

New evidence:

"FamilySearch Microfilm No. 2371066," images 1573-1576 de 2642. Contrat de mariage entre Charles Godin et Marie Boucher (1er octobre 1656, no. 500). https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:3Q9M-CSVN-3VPZ?i=1572&cat=1171569

this is the marriage contract between Charles Godin and Marie Boucher Boucher-185, daughter of Marin Boucher and Perrine Mallet.

The last line reads (pg 1576 in there):

''Aussi Jeanne Boucher femme de Thomas Hayot oncle et tante de ladite future épouse'' ie ''also Jeanne Boucher wife of Thomas Hayot uncle and aunt of the said future wife''  and Thomas signs.

So Jeanne and Marin are sister and brother.

Thanks to Mark Connelly for finding this.

have removed Jeanne Boucher as sister of Gaspard and placed her as sister of Marin, based on the above evidence.
But Danielle, if Jeanne was the sister of Marin, then your remark of Feb 4 above would apply again: Gervais Houde and Marie Denevers would be second cousins and would need a dispensation.
All the names are different, Houde & Boucher as parents of Gervais, Denevers and Vitard as parents of Marie Denevers.  I think the priest never thought to check, the marriage is done in different location that parental marriages.
