Are these two men Antonín Svoboda the same?

Question

One of the longest branches on our global family tree runs through the Czech Republic. It has been the subject of much discussion in our 100 Circles project in this post.

We'd love to find connections to strengthen ties along this branch to our global tree, drawing us all closer and allowing us to see other lengthy branches. I noticed an Antonín Svoboda and wife Františka Horecká on another site without dates whose son Josef was born on 7 May 1884 in Střílky. Josef married Anna Hradilová.

This fits neatly between our Antonín's children born in 1882 and 1886. Could they be the same family? They would then be connected to Czech Americans like John Sedlacek who are much closer to the center of our global tree.

It looks like it given the names and location. The town is in the Zlínský region, the regional archive is the Moravský zemský archiv v Brně / The Moravian Land Archives in Brno. Have not have the time yet to check the available records, but the digitized images of the church books should be able to get you a lot more information. They would be the primary record for births/baptisms, marriages and deaths.

Yes, yesterday I installed the opera browser and the flash player debug version so that I could view it on my MacBook. We will have to attach some images to profiles.

Thanks, I changed your notes for the wife on Geni to have surname Horecká. Geni always pastes in the husband's name as the wife's display name, which is annoying.

But I think his father is not the same as Svoboda-110 because he is from Chvalnov but this Anton is from Střílky.¨

But Chvalnov is near Střílky, only 3km, so maybe yes.

Also you don't have to translate to English just for me. I'd love to see more biographies in Czech and German. Just write about your ancestors in the language you love and someone can translate when they want to collaborate in another language.

Hi, I have just noticed that "Jan Sedláček" is on the geni twice 

I have found Jan (Sedláček-159):

I just confirmed that Sedláček-159 is not the same person as Sedláček-155.

The parents of Sedláček-159 in birth record looks partly same as on geni. It`s necessary to confirm the correctness of reading the surname of mother. It looks quite different.

So, his parent must be sourced...

I'm going to continue the search.

We have a problem.

This is Josef Sedláček on geni. Birth between 1800 and 1860. On wikitree he is sourced Sedláček-160 and we know, he was 30 years old in 1857. But his brother Jan on geni was born 1857. After almost 30 years later? This can be probably big mistake on geni path from czech to american Sedláček.

In 1857 there are no birth record of John (Jan) Sedláček in Soběsuk.

Thank you, Tomáš, for all of your work! Let's break the chain between Jan/John the immigrant and his presumed father and start again in the US to look for evidence of John's hometown. Does that sound right?
